Outdoor TVs have been gaining in popularity in recent years. We're building outside to make the most of the warm weather, and we're complementing our terrace with a TV model that can stand up to the harsh climate.

For some years now, Samsung has been marketing The Terrace outdoor TVs in two series:

- LST7TAFXZA series: Weatherproof and moisture-resistant

- LST9TAFXZC series: In addition to being weather- and moisture-resistant, this series features protection against direct sunlight. 

Other players are also being added for different models: Sunbrite Tv and Neptune are not to be overlooked.

IP55" standard mandatory for outdoor use

Before considering picture and sound performance, you need to be sure that this TV can stay outdoors. To get a fair idea of its resistance, la Terrace is certified IP55 which means Indice de Protection 5 + 5.

The first "5" means that the case will resist dust and microscopic residues, and that over time, the internal components will not be damaged.

The second "5 is resistance to water infiltration. Standard number 5 specifies that not only does rain not affect the product, but even a jet of water from a distance of 2 to 3 meters won't manage to get in!

You can be sure that nothing will harm this TV set, and with a wide operating temperature range (minus 31 to plus 50 degrees Celsius) you can find a place for it outdoors all year round! Your personal drive-in at home!

A TV designed for people who love action!

Whether it's any form of sport, including motorsports, you need a screen that reacts fast! The speed of the MR240 allows you to follow fast-moving action without any residual image trails. The ultra-black screen, meanwhile, delivers rich, high-contrast images.

On the terrace it's sunny, no problem!

Having a beautiful QLED image is great, but it's useless if you can't see it...

That's why Samsung has incorporated a highly effective anti-reflective coating on THE TERRACE, as well as a 2000 NITS brilliance. The ultra-black screen with anti-reflective coating and screen highlighting lets you watch your TV in broad daylight, and that's not all! An intelligent sensor analyzes ambient light and reduces brightness to adapt automatically. Celebrate at dinner and continue your evening by watching the fireworks broadcast after dark! Terribly loud!!!

In addition, the matrix is of the "direct illumination" type, i.e. the pixels are illuminated directly behind, as opposed to from the side. The more direct, the better the performance.

OK, so the TV's weatherproof and high-performance, what more could you want?

To make the most of your new acquisition, Samsung has pulled out all the stops when it comes to connectivity. Never before have we seen so many possibilities, and what can we say about HDBASE-T (point No. 7)?

1 - Classic antennasocket and cable-selector connection option. Nothing revolutionary, except that the connection compartment is closed and sealed, and can only be opened with a screwdriver.

2 - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection for network access to YouTube, Netflix and a host of other web applications.

3 - Samsung TV Plus is a free television service available to everyone. You can watch a large number of channels usually available on cable without paying a cent. YES! even Radio-Canada English and French is included!

4 - Airplay2 for Apple fans. You can easily connect to stream content from your iPhone or a visitor's. 

5 - Split screen Multiview allows two sources to be viewed simultaneously on the screen. No bickering, with a TV show on one side, and Gaming on the other!

6 - Tap View or the ability to mirror your mobile device by simply touching the top of your Terrace to make the connection.

7 - HDBASE-T receiver you can connect all your devices - set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, computers, game consoles and so on - via a SINGLE WIRE! This feature is unique in that, via an Ethernet wire, you can link an HDBASE-T transmitter to which your devices are connected in a single, simple connection. When it comes to transfer quality, there's no limit, since 4K resolution is guaranteed, along with top-quality audio.

Technologies adapted to modern needs 

THE TERRACE TV offers the full range of integration options for connected objects.

1 - Full control via Bixby voice command. Use your included stainless steel remote control, and give your commands. Execution will be perfect and without delay.

2 — Alexa and integrated google assistant. Search the Web, request information, control your appliances remotely - your imagination will be the only limit to the possible applications of these assistants. Since the remote control is your point of entry, there's no need to worry about confidentiality: when at rest, it's not active. All SAMSUNG TV sets feature voice control.

3 - SmartThings from Samsung, turns your mobile device into a Wi-Fi remote control. If you're within range of your Wi-Fi network, you can control your TV from anywhere! It's also possible to watch your TV show on your smartphone screen! There's no interruption if you need to get away from the front of the TV set, so your guests can continue to follow the show, and so can you... remotely!

4 — SmartHub all your connected devices, such as thermostats, garage door dimmers and more, will be displayed on a control screen integrated into the Terrace. When you're in the yard, unlock the door for your children as they arrive, without taking your eyes off the screen! Once again, the applications are limitless... Menu listing your connected devices

5 — One Remote. The stainless steel remote control, sealed (IP56) against water or dust damage, integrates the operation of your TV-connected devices. For example, if you plug in a Bell decoder, the menu will automatically be downloaded from Samsung's servers, and your remote control will operate it seamlessly.    No more multiple remote control headaches.

6 - DLNA. The integration of a DLNA system enables you to install numerous applications, including those of major video-on-demand services such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Rakuten TV, Twitch and many others. DLNA technology is also standard on connected outdoor TVs, so you can enjoy multimedia content on your computer directly on your THE TERRACE screen. And as the world of computing continues to evolve, you'll always be ready to take advantage of the latest findings or connected service offerings via your laptop or conventional computer.

Optional sound bar for outdoor use

With its built-in 20-watt audio system, you'll hear everything from a reasonable distance from the TV. The frequency response is complete and the sound is just right, with crystal-clear highs and fairly well reproduced bass. However, the 20 watts will have its limits.

There was no way to give you a TV with sound powerful enough for every occasion, so Samsung has introduced its outdoor soundbar, the Terrace HW-LST70T.

With its 210 watts, integrated woofer and center channel subwoofer, you get an impressive sound. It has the same IP55 weatherproof rating as the TV. For pleasant, well-defined sound, harmonic distortion analysis circuits "listen" to speaker output and proactively and continuously correct sound performance. No need to worry about turning up the volume - artificial intelligence will take care of the rest!

And that's not all! When you're not using the HW-LS70T as a soundbar, you can use it as a continuous surround sound speaker. You had to think of that!

Of course, Alexa and Google Assistant services are included, so simply say: Alexa, play me Jazz, and off you go! Your intelligent Ambiance soundbar.

The last word

In short, with a waterproof design that's resistant to weather, dust, extreme temperatures and UV rays, outdoor TVs are designed to be placed outdoors, by the pool or even in a damp room. Featuring high brightness and an anti-glare screen, these TVs maintain excellent picture quality, even in broad daylight.
